The Broad’s Family Weekend Workshops take place four times a year and offer families with children activities and workshops to engage with the art and architecture of The Broad museum as well as with Chef Timothy Hollingsworth of Otium, the restaurant adjacent to the museum. Workshops will be presented bilingually in English and Spanish and will give families the opportunity to make their own creative souvenirs inspired by the Broad collection. Family Weekend Workshops are free, but have limited availability and entrance is not guaranteed without a reservation.
Families who reserve tickets in advance will receive a wristband when they check-in onsite at the museum. Workshops and demonstrations will be available to families with wristbands on a first come, first serve basis. Family Weekend Workshops are for families with children ages 3 and up.
Workshops
Transform Yourself!
Remake yourself using some of the techniques applied by the artists in the Broad collection including Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, and Barbara Kruger. You’ll leave with your very own self-portrait.
Veil Yourself!
Become your own fashion designer at this workshop! Inspired by the unique “veil” that is the signature characteristic of The Broad’s architecture, create a wearable piece of art.
Creative Art Writing
Look at art like an artist and answer some of the same questions that artists ask themselves in their studios. Led by 826LA, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting students with their creative and expository writing skills, craft your own story about the artwork and the back story behind how and why it was made.
