In the second session of The Broad's live virtual Summer Art School, join a guided drawing activity inspired by Roy Lichtenstein's Still Life with Green Vase (1972) from the Broad collection.
We will take Lichtenstein’s painting of a still life as inspiration. You'll choose objects around your home or surroundings that mean something to you and create your own still life.
During this free virtual workshop, you and your family will see the artwork that inspired the activity, live from the museum. You also will have the opportunity to discover and discuss books related to the activity's theme with librarians from the Children’s Literature Department from the Los Angeles Public Library. At the end of the session, participants will share their creations with each other.
What you'll need to participate:
This art-making activity is suitable for children ages 6 and up. Younger children may benefit from the help of an adult.
Sessions will be translated live into Spanish.
For ADA accommodations, please email schoolvisits@thebroad.org at least 72 hours prior to the event.
In July, families with kids are invited for four live one-hour virtual drawing sessions. Facilitated by The Broad’s Visitor Experience Lead David Candelaria, participants will create a drawing inspired by works on view in the museum, while learning words used in contemporary art.
During the drawing session, librarians from the Children’s Literature Department from the Los Angeles Public Library will share and discuss books related to the activity's theme.
Each workshop includes a live in-gallery segment showcasing the artwork that inspired the activity. Families will have time to share their creations at the end of the session.
All sessions are free to attend and held over Zoom.
Sessions will be translated live into Spanish.
For ADA accommodations, please email schoolvisits@thebroad.org at least 72 hours prior to the event.
